Officer Ryan Allen's Return Home after Brain Injury
This is not the type of post we normally share, but this heartbreaking story of one of our local officers and his family needs to get out there.
On Oct. 14, 2021, Hatboro Police K-9 Handler Ryan Allen went into cardiac arrest after getting stung by a bee. He was pulseless for over 20 minutes. He suffered a severe anoxic brain injury. After months of treatment and rehab, it was determined that Officer Allen would not recover from his injuries. This month, Ryan's family decided to move him home on hospice to spend his last few weeks surrounded by family, including his wife and young son. His family is concerned that insurance may not cover the home healthcare needed to keep Ryan comfortable during this period.
