Free training initiative during National Stop the Bleed Month aims to equip underserved Philadelphia region communities with lifesaving emergency skills.
PHILADELPHIA, PA — In honor of National Stop the Bleed Month this May, Penn Tactical Solutions is offering a limited number of free “Stop the Bleed” courses to organizations across the Philadelphia region, with a special focus on underserved and high-risk neighborhoods. These lifesaving classes are designed to empower everyday citizens with the skills to control bleeding and save lives in the crucial moments before emergency responders arrive.
National Stop the Bleed Month is a nationwide awareness campaign launched to combat one of the leading causes of preventable death: uncontrolled bleeding. Held each May, the campaign encourages individuals regardless of background or medical experience to learn how to identify and stop life-threatening bleeding using direct pressure, wound-packing, and tourniquets. In trauma situations such as accidents, violent incidents, or disasters, victims can bleed to death in under five minutes, making immediate intervention critical.
“As a company rooted in emergency response, we believe that access to lifesaving skills shouldn't depend on zip code or budget,” said Craig Hall, Founder of Penn Tactical Solutions. “We’re focusing this initiative on communities that historically have fewer resources for emergency training, because everyone deserves the chance to save a life.”
The free classes will be available to schools, community groups, faith-based organizations, and nonprofits especially those serving disadvantaged or high-crime areas in the Philadelphia region. Each hands-on course teaches:
How to identify life-threatening bleeding
Techniques for applying pressure and packing wounds
Safe and effective use of tourniquets
Real-world scenarios to build confidence under pressure
Penn Tactical Solutions will prioritize course availability based on community need, organizational reach, and the number of individuals impacted. Organizations interested in hosting a training session are encouraged to apply early due to limited availability.
Who Should Apply:
Community centers and youth organizations
Public schools and after-school programs
Churches, mosques, and faith-based nonprofits
Grassroots groups in underserved neighborhoods
Local businesses and civic groups seeking safety training
