Course Overview
Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) prepares civilian EMS, fire, law enforcement, and organized response teams to provide life-saving trauma care in high-threat and dynamic operational environments. Developed by the Committee for Tactical Emergency Casualty Care and endorsed by NAEMT, TECC translates battlefield trauma principles into civilian application.
The course focuses on evidence-based treatment priorities using the MARCH algorithm within the three phases of care: Direct Threat Care, Indirect Threat Care, and Evacuation Care. Participants learn to manage life-threatening hemorrhage, airway compromise, respiratory trauma, shock, and hypothermia while operating within law enforcement and unified command structures.
Instruction emphasizes rapid decision-making, coordinated team response, and medical interventions under realistic operational stress. Scenario-based exercises reinforce casualty movement, threat awareness, communication, and integration with rescue task force or contact teams.
This program is aligned with current trauma standards and national best practices for civilian tactical medical response.
