Course Overview
Tactical Emergency Casualty Care for Law Enforcement Officers and First Responders (TECC-LEO) provides evidence-based trauma training tailored to the operational realities of patrol officers, deputies, state troopers, campus police, school resource officers, corrections personnel, and other non-EMS public safety professionals.
Developed under the guidelines of the Committee for Tactical Emergency Casualty Care and endorsed by NAEMT, this course adapts battlefield-proven trauma principles to civilian law enforcement operations. Participants are trained to deliver immediate life-saving care during active violence incidents, high-risk warrant service, vehicle assaults, and other dynamic events where EMS access may be delayed.
Instruction focuses on hemorrhage control, airway management basics, treatment of penetrating trauma, casualty movement, and integration into contact team and rescue task force operations. Officers learn to operate within the phases of care: Direct Threat Care, Indirect Threat Care, and Evacuation Care, emphasizing rapid intervention while maintaining scene safety and tactical priorities.
Scenario-based exercises reinforce decision-making under stress, communication with EMS and fire partners, and coordinated medical response within unified command structures.
This course strengthens officer survivability, increases casualty survival rates, and enhances interagency operational readiness.
